Phew! That was a lot of new information, right? We know this week had a lot of material that might be tough to think about, so pat yourself on the back for getting through it. Even if you found some things confusing, and are still not completely sure what to do, just starting to think about exposures or mission plans is such an important part of this program. Take a deep breath and give yourself some credit for taking the time to do this!

This week, we explained that the purpose of a mission plan is to help your child overcome their fears by gradually facing their feared situation. When your child avoids confronting something that makes them anxious, their fear grows. You also learned the steps to create a mission plan:

1. Create a list of fears and worries. 
2. Choose a target fear. 
3. Choose a specific mission plan goal (make sure your first mission plan goal is straightforward and achievable!). 
4. Brainstorm different steps for the mission plan. 
5. Order the steps from least to most scary. 
6. Make a rewards plan and put it all together. 

Over the next week:

1. Work with your child to put together your first mission plan! Remember to ask about their opinions and integrate them with your own. Use the .
2. Download and save blank copies of the Mission Plan Planning Worksheet onto your computer so you can easily find it when you want to make a new mission plan later in the program!
