- Absolutely thrilled by the incredible Barrozo Lab presentations at the 30th Annual Texas Forum for Reproductive Sciences! What an amazing opportunity to showcase our work!
March 2025:
- Excited to have shared our latest findings at #SRI2025 during the Fetal Physiology Satellite Session on Innovative Approaches to Fetal Immune Cell Development
February 2025:
- At #SMFM25, we presented our latest findings on the potential link between placental microplastic concentrations and preterm birth. Our study found significantly higher levels of total and specific microplastics in placentas from preterm births compared to those delivered at term. While these results do not establish causation, they underscore an urgent need to investigate how environmental exposures, especially microplastics, may influence maternal-fetal health and pregnancy outcomes. Preterm birth remains the leading cause of neonatal mortality worldwide, and uncovering potential contributors is critical for prevention efforts.
Many thanks to our co-authors, especially the Matt Campen Lab, for their collaboration in this work.
