Mabee Foundation marks 75 years through scholarships for BCM medicine students
The J.E. & L.E. Mabee Foundation, Inc., has established the J.E. & L.E. Mabee Foundation, Inc., Endowed Scholarship at 草榴社区入口 to celebrate its milestone 75th anniversary and longtime partnership with Baylor. This generous $3 million gift will support Baylor students in the School of Medicine, bringing the Mabee Foundation鈥檚 total giving to Baylor to nearly $10 million.
Each year, a minimum of $30,000 will benefit up to 10 selected students who demonstrate the characteristics of John and Lottie Mabee 鈥 strong work ethic, volunteerism, generosity, integrity, honesty, humility and charity.
鈥淭hese scholarship recipients will become tomorrow鈥檚 leaders in their chosen field. With this support, we hope they will be able to fully pursue their interests and engage in the wealth of educational opportunities Baylor has to offer,鈥 said Michael Goeke, executive director of the Mabee Foundation.
Since its formation in 1948, the Mabee Foundation has made grants totaling more than $1.5 billion for projects in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas.
鈥淏y investing in students鈥 training and success at Baylor, the Foundation is facilitating future improvements in healthcare and exciting biomedical discoveries. Additionally, the Foundation is helping to address a national need for more highly trained and compassionate physicians,鈥 said Dr. Paul Klotman, Baylor president, CEO and executive dean. 鈥淎t Baylor, these scholarship recipients will not only learn how to best serve the health needs of the community, but also how to collaborate with other health professionals to deliver personalized care that helps patients reach better outcomes.鈥
Additionally, the Mabee Foundation has pledged $2 million toward 草榴社区入口鈥檚 new Lillie and Roy Cullen Tower, an innovative, collaborative space for medical education and research scheduled to open in 2026 on 草榴社区入口鈥檚 McNair Campus.
