The Administrative Fellowship Program is a one-year training program comprised of leadership rotations, high-profile committee memberships, impactful organizational projects, potential acting assignments in key administrative positions, and other recurring duties.
Administrative Fellowship Program Structure
- Leadership Rotations: July
- Neurology Team-Based Rotation: August through September
- Medicine and Surgery Individual-Based Rotations: October through March
- Focused Rotations and Acting Assignments: April through June
Focused Rotations to be determined by the Preceptor and the Administrative Fellow based on personal interest and department agreement.
Acting Assignments to be determined by the Preceptor and the Administrative Fellow based on open positions available and value of the experience.

Projects
Key projects will be tasked to the Administrative Fellow throughout the year by various BCM Leadership. Projects need to be approved by the Preceptor or Program Director in advance of starting except during Department-led rotations. Projects are assigned to broaden the Administrative Fellow鈥檚 training and scope through real-life work experience, while also returning on the College鈥檚 investment in the Administrative Fellowship Program.
Recurring Duties
Administrative Fellowship Program
- Work at the direction of the Administrative Fellowship Preceptor and Program Director in advancement of the Administrative Fellowship Program.
- Duties may include assisting the recruitment and onboarding process of future fellows, advancing the Administrative Fellowship Program鈥檚 visibility and standing, devising future curriculum needs, mentoring future trainees, and any other tasks assigned during the course of the Fellowship.
Baylor Medicine Committees Staff Support
- Work at the direction of the Chair(s) in support of the administrative needs of the Committee.
- Duties may include setting and distributing meeting agendas, transcribing meeting minutes, coordinating meeting logistics, and any other tasks assigned by Committee Leadership.
Patient Business Services/Revenue Cycle
- Assist the revenue cycle efforts of two Departments at the direction of the Senior Clinical Business Services Director.
- Duties may include learning how to access and use appropriate data cubes, updating department dashboards metrics, working with departments on their revenue cycle action plans, and reporting to PBS leadership on progress and issues.
Project Management Certification
- Complete BCM鈥檚 project management certification training and pass the certification test prior to the end of the Fellowship year.
End of the Year Presentation on Fellowship Experience
- Create and present a slide deck to leadership reflecting on the Fellow鈥檚 year in the training program. Agenda to include the following sections: Introduction, Rotations, Projects, Other Key Accomplishments, Reflections, and Thank you.
